Route Building!

Hello! I’ve created this thread to see what people are planning to make with the new map maker! Can’t wait to see all the lovely ideas and how far the map maker can go!

I’m thinking of seeing what people make and then i’ll try to grab a slice of the metaphorical pie.

I know I won’t open the editor on day one. I want to look at the game first before going for it, but I have ideas that I will hopefully post about as time goes on!

Ngl id prop make smth from the danish state railway or smth from its history or just danish rail history
mostly cuz i rarely see anything danish rail in games

i’m thinking of getting immediately onto the multiplayer train or getting something private going, maybe i’ll use the searching for crew!
XD

Danish… What era are you going for?

prop smth before dsb “owned everything”.
prop somewhere around 1860’s-1900’s

Planning to make custom assets for it?
I ask because then you’ll need to do follow the ADK (?) to make them usable, i haven’t looked to deeply into it but it looks very straightforward.

ill prop take a peek at it
though idk if its a project ill finish >->

If you ever get a team of people working to make a map, try to make your dreams come true!

The Rio Grande’s Marshall Pass connection to Gunnison! Hopefully I can get an overview post done later today (probably at 1:00am) of some progress whenever I get the to MOW lol

I live near abandoned railway tracks from a local short line railway tracks, now the Middletown & New Jersey, but when it used to run through my town it was the Middletown & Unionville. And in Middletown it interchanged with the Erie, and the O&W. and at its southern interchange it worked with the NYS&W. Its main line was only about 14/15 miles but they hauled more milk then most other railroads in the US. There’s a lot that I can do with it so it should be interesting, even if its just a solo project i take forever on lol

I’m going to Attempt to recreate the Mountain division of the Maine Central as seen in the 50’s - 60’s. Obviously gotta start with Portland Maine, and it’s more of a thought in my head atm. Depending on how easy I find the map maker, I’m definetly going to attempt it

I am gonna try and make the Santa Fe, Prescott, & Phoenix Railway and its subsidiaries in Arizona as seen sometime before 1926 when they closed the branch to Crown King. Not entirely sure if I will build the line all the way to Phoenix as operationally it may be a headache if you tried to actually run the whole railroad, but hey maybe something for when milestones are hopefully added to the map editor in the future.

I’m considering doing the B&M Fitchburg line C. 1940s between East Deerfield MA and Mechanicville NY including the Hoosac Tunnel. Though to start I will likely do a switching layout based on Lowell MA to get used to map making. Something small-ish instead of a big main line.

I myself haven’t played the 0.6 game itself yet. I jumped straight into the map editor  There are some official instructions, a 1-post unofficial tutorial that just gets you started, and so there’s still a lot of figuring stuff out. But I’m getting there.

Anyway, my plan eventually is to make as much of this as possible:

So far, I’ve got the original E-W part of the South Shore RR (yellow line), from the interchange at McManus to the town of Jackson. That took basically every second from the release until just now

The WFRR is historically interesting because it was one of the oldest in the US, being built with iron-capped wooden rails in the 1830s-40s. It’s so old that it was the 1st US railroad fto cross a state line and also the 1st standard gauge track in the US. Which seems strange as it was out in the boonies by itself and its interchange was with steamboats

I want to make a map of a mining operation in my home town set in the 50’s. Ore cars, slag cars, mines, mills, smelter. Won’t be an empire, but I could not properly achieve it in N scale.
